Off to Caldas

We are finally prepped and on our way to the Hogar in Caldas. We can’t wait to see the buildings we started in previous years, the dormitory and the kitchen.

One of the things we learned we will be doing is painting the kitchen. That’ll be a big project.

We will also be tiling the floor of the newly built laundry room.

I can’t wait to get started. I can’t wait to shake hands with my friend Arle. I can’t wait to be a part of what God is doing at the Hogar de Cristo.

Orientation Day

After church (and lunch) we all sit and listen to Chuck’s orientation. For some of us these are stories we’ve already heard, but it is good to hear them again.

Why we do what we do

Many folks say to me, “Colombia? Really? Isn’t it dangerous? Isn’t is scary? You really take your whole family? Why do you do it?” All I can do is show them pictures of the kids at the Hogar and say, “for them!”.

“Inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.”

So I say to you. Do you see the joy in my daughters face? Do you see the joy in the faces of the Colombian children? That is why I went, and that is why we still go!

Anticipation

It has been a year since I was last in Medellin Colombia. Too long. I can’t wait to see how much has been completed at the Hogan de Cristo in that time. One of the enduring images in my mind is the image shared above…the incomplete kitchen at the top of the hill. In a few days I’ll be posting an updated image…stay posted!
