How tall have they grown?

Last year, our team planted these little trees. We also planted prayers, hugs and love into some little hearts. And, they planted hope in our hearts too. I am eager to get back to see how tall these things have grown. I will ask how they’ve grown in their knowledge and trust in Jesus. I will give them lots and lots of hugs. And look them in the eye to imprint their smiles upon my heart. And, I will watch my girls flourish and grow taller by being in their midst. Oh to be “like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭1:3‬ ‭ESV‬‬‬‬

Why we do what we do

Many folks say to me, “Colombia? Really? Isn’t it dangerous? Isn’t is scary? You really take your whole family? Why do you do it?” All I can do is show them pictures of the kids at the Hogar and say, “for them!”.

“Inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.”

So I say to you. Do you see the joy in my daughters face? Do you see the joy in the faces of the Colombian children? That is why I went, and that is why we still go!

Anticipation

It has been a year since I was last in Medellin Colombia. Too long. I can’t wait to see how much has been completed at the Hogan de Cristo in that time. One of the enduring images in my mind is the image shared above…the incomplete kitchen at the top of the hill. In a few days I’ll be posting an updated image…stay posted!
